Eleven months...
It's been nearly eleven months since the last live, permanent D&D show, and nearly three months since their last substitute run on WPHT. Since then, WPHT has moved Michael Smerconish, their morning guy, to afternoons and premiered a new, local morning show. A Grand Rapids AM talk station, WJRW, also hired a new, local morning guy yesterday -- I was holding out a tiny chance that Jeff and Bill would be their surprise announcement. The future is looking bleak, in my not-in-the-know-at-all opinion -- Jeff and Bill aren't even friends on Facebook at the moment. One more month and they'll have hit their longest "hiatus" since they started working together in 1993. Anyone have any inside info?

Taking requests
It doesn't look like there will be any more live D&D for a while (unless they get another chance to sub in at WPHT), and we've exhausted our archives here, so we're going to go dormant for a while. Keep an eye on the D&D Yahoo Group, Jeff's blog, or one of the various D&D groups on Facebook for updates. If anyone has any requests for reposts of any shows or segments, please let us know, we can repost stuff pretty quickly.
Also, to give a quick reminder to anyone new to the blog, to download the audio clips from the Sharebee links below, the easiest way is to click the link and hit the stop button on your web browser (or the Esc key) as soon as the 4-5 hosting links appear (Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc.) -- that will usually stop the page from loading before the popup ad appears. If the popup ad (the full page one) appears, just click the red "Skip this Ad" button in the upper-right hand corner of the page. These ads aren't from us, they're from Sharebee.

Update from Deminski on the future of D&D
The sad personal news Jeff first let us in on via Facebook and later during the WPHT fill-in week is nothing new, but with his most recent blog post, he has now admitted what we've all been thinking -- this may be the beginning of the end of the Deminski & Doyle show:
"I don't know that the show will ever return now, as I can't move from a hundred mile radius once this goes through, and unless an opportunity came up right here which doesn't look likely, it means I had to choose between my career of 25 years or my kids. I chose my kids."

D&D - Aug 10, 2010 - Philly's WPHT 1210am
Last day of live D&D in Philly...for now. I'm way behind schedule so I'll try to at least get the first half of the show up this evening and the second half probably not until tomorrow.
UPDATE 6/11: Well that was fun. I forgot how much work it is to edit a full four-hour show every day. Here's hoping I'll have that opportunity in the future -- as Jeff said just before they signed off yesterday, "Hopefully we'll talk again, who knows?" This was a very full show that included a number of positive comments from WPHT listeners about their substitute hosts. I don't know how TPTB viewed it, but if this was an audition, I'd personally say it was a successful one. Topics covered during this four-hour spread included interviews with Philly Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers about a possible brownout-related fire death, Claudia Gomez of Philly's FOX 29 about illegal parking spots in the city, and John Meixner from Northwestern University about a new technology that could be used to read terrorist's thought (ok, more like read a specific, previously known brainwave frequency). Call-in segments included debated about the "Take This Job and Shove It" Jet Blue flight attendant, the death penalty (again), a lawsuit from a Mets fan injured by a flying baseball bat, as well as calls following the firehouse brownout and parking lots segments. Other stories mentioned ranged from the serious (Defense Secretary Bob Gates' thoughts on budget cuts, more on DRPA & DROP, and a possible new "Substitute Justice" position on the Supreme Court) to the silly (Jennifer Aniston's thoughts on families, falling magazine subscription numbers, and toxic dog food) to the what-the-@#$% (Stephen Hawking's "get off my planet!" rant, a possible baby-thrown-off-bridge hoax in Philly, and a Massachusetts pastor who's in favor of beating kids).

D&D - Aug 9, 2010 - Philly's WPHT 1210am
There were a number of local (Philly) story updates in this show -- some further background came out about Stacy Strauss, the woman charged in the death of the autistic 20-year-old, more numbers from the DROP retirement scandal were revealed, pedo teacher David Devine's "summer camp" was mentioned again, and Philadelphia Daily News' Stu Bykofsky (who Jeff and Bill spoke with last week) is having a "candidate's comedy night." Other topics covered included a few other local stories (merits of the death penalty in Philly, a cop's hit-and-run admission, and new ways to fight prostitution in the City of Brotherly Love) as well as another chat with Phillies' manager Charlie Manuel, a Sarah Palin vs. Kate Gosselin update, a groom killer story from Turkey, and a scientific update on the "five second rule." Call-in segments included debates on Wikileaks, Proposition 8, airport body scanners, "Obamacare," and Arizona's SB 1080. Callers also chimed in on a couple of Deminski rants -- he told a story about a shopping cart "accident" and once again gave his opinion on bicyclists.

D&D - Aug 6, 2010 - Philly's WPHT 1210am
Sorry folks -- had an emergency come up today and I wasn't able to edit the audio from Friday's show. I'll try to get it up by Sunday night, Monday afternoon at the latest (along with the audio from Monday's show).
UPDATE 8/9:
Friday's audio is up...sorry again for the delay...today's show will be up in a bit...
There weren't nearly as many call-in segment during this Friday show as there were earlier in the week -- maybe Jeff and Bill's "audition week" (my term, not meaning to start a rumor) includes many different types of shows? They did finally have a lengthy comedic segment today when they took calls about the best (and the worst) comedies of all times. Callers also got to chime in on a few other topics, ranging from corporal punishment in schools to Philadelphia police reform to the local (Philly) first-grade teacher / kiddie porn addict. Other topics covered included two replays of the 911 call by the Connecticut shooter, updates from BP and Social Security, some scattered gay news (Elena Kagan, Prop 8, and a banned book), a blown off interview from Adolf Hitler's dad, as well as an interview with Ronnie Polaneczky of the Philadelphia Daily News (and the subjects of her pet-medical care story). Smaller l'il bits talked about ranged from instant replay in baseball, MMA, the wife who discovered her husband's other wife on Facebook, a dead woman covered by laundry, and an animal hoarder. No end-of-the-week game though. :(
