D&D - Nov 28, 2011

There were a few noteworthy moments in today's show we'd like to highlight. It seems that Jeff and Bill are settling in, reacquainting themselves with NJ 101.5, and getting more comfortable bringing in some of their more comedic elements into the show. Not only was the story about the San Diego Chargers kicker who (apparently!) took a leak on national television (video link here) the genesis for the entire 5:00 hour, but it was mentioned briefly several other times during the show, including at the very start of the 2pm hour (audio link here -- super bonus points for anyone who can identify where the last 20 seconds of this came from!). There was also a mention of the dearth of D&D swag available (audio link here) -- anyone have an extra D&D WKRK pinup calendar, any Wing Cup memorabilia, or a mid-90's WKXW Jeff Deminski photo card (collect them all!) they'd be willing to spare for a new listener? :)

Another interesting point of note about those two short audio clips linked above. Doyle mentions in the first one the inability to verify a listener's question about a show from the previous week, as the station "doesn't record anything here," but yet during the discussion about the D&D Christmas gift ideas, the e-mailer (Mike) states that he "started listening to podcasts of [D&D] and quickly became a fan." Nobody noticed that paradox? Heh...

Anyway...topics from today included a recap of Black Friday madness, a debate about a NJ proposal to allow Skype-esque webchat between prison inmates and family members, callers' experiences with "Club D'oh!" (i.e. crashing-into-deer stories), the aforementioned "peeing in public" segment, and a discussion on hearing loss.

P.S. Peeing in public? C'mon, Jeff, you know there's more to the "Bottle Incident" story from March, 2009...

D&D - Nov 23, 2011

NJ 101.5 has switched to all music for the holiday weekend, starting at 7pm tonight, so the next new D&D show will be Monday afternoon.

Horray for short weeks! So much better than short buses...'aight, topics from this Week-End Wednesday show included a debate (from a couple different angles -- bus drivers & parents) on unattended children, a holiday movie poll, a debate about Black Friday, some listener stories about Thanksgiving family feuds, and a rare Wednesday edition of a Friday Game, this one entitled "Play Till You Win," possibly to make up for last week's horrifically amazing round of Match Game...tip: don't let the boss play anymore!

Monday, Monday, gotta get up for Monday...everybody at work's a stupid meathead, meathead...

Sorry...got off on a tangent there. Shouldn't complain too much, it's a short week this week -- assuming D&D are having a short week as well, but we haven't heard any concrete news about their schedule. Topics from today's show included a WCSX-esque "musical bucket list" segment, a Thanksgiving dinner food survey, another segmented hour from 4-5pm that put the final touches on the "12 Days in Jersey" 2011 edition lyrics, touched on the proposed Jersey version of "Caylee's Law," and brought up the possibility of legalizing the sale of over-the-counter syringes and needles in drugstores in NJ. There was also another discussion on elderly driver experiences as well as a (mostly one-sided) debate about possible changes to New Jersey alimony laws.
