D&D - Dec 4, 2009

Ton of web content today and a slight change in the commercial break format. We had another one of those over-the-air / webstream ad mixup days, so all the infomercials were gone today and replaced by the same ads we heard over the air. Most of these were removed (they'll be used later on), but the breaks are slightly longer in the show audio below than has been the norm as of late.

blahblahblahblahblah YAAAY Friday Game returned today with Match Game!

1. TIGER WOODS VOICEMAIL SLOW JAM REMIX (video) - Some people have way too much time on their hands...But we love them for it!
2. GUY TRIES TO MAKE A RETURN AT OAKLAND MALL, THREATENS TO SHOOT PEOPLE (podcast) - Some people take their returns VERY seriously. Enough that when a store refuses refund their purchase, they run the risk of being shot.
3. KEN DANIELS (podcast) - Ken Daniels of Fox Sports Detroit checked in to talk Red Wings hockey with us.
4. HIDING STUFF FROM YOUR PARENTS (podcast) - This is a segment in the show where adults that no longer live under the same roof with their parents, and no longer live by their parents rules, confess to STILL hiding things from their parents because they fear they would disapprove.
5. TIGER WOODS UPDATES AND A REMIX! (podcast) - Can this whole Tiger Woods thing get any more weird? Supposedly as Tiger lay on the pavement, semi-conscious after crashing his car and being attacked by a golf club. Also - someone, somewhere, came up with a brilliant Tiger Woods Voicemail Remix. Don’t blame us when you have this thing stuck in your head for the next three months!
6. CHARLES PUGH (podcast) - This morning we had the chance to talk to Charles Pugh, who was sworn in as the new Detroit City Council president yesterday.
7. JAMIE AND NIYO (Jamie podcast) - Jamie talks all things sports (Tiger, the Lions and much more) with John Niyo from the Detroit News.
8. SAMUELSEN ON SPORTS (blog) - PLEASE read this column...Jason Whitlock used to work in Ann Arbor. Since then, he's become a nationally known columnist for his funny, controversial, thought-provoking columns. This one about Tiger Woods and the pious media that have been attacking him covers ALL of those bases. You may not agree with Jason, but you have to admit it's a very interesting take.

D&D - Dec 3, 2009

D&D are both back today, catching up on current events. Jeff's daughter is doing well -- good to hear. Tiger Woods and his "wood" featured heavily on today show, as did Meridith Baxter and her apathy towards wood (great segment on Shocking Closeted Celebrities in the 6am hour). There were also several local stories; Martha Reeves threw herself a going-away party (Sarah Palin, it's your turn), former FOX 2 anchor Fanchon Stinger is (in my opinion) trying to launch a comeback, and some Detroit chick who got burned by her man decided to burn back. We also had another round of Play the Numbers. Web-worthy topics were, as chosen by the brass-balled & black and blue folks over at WCSX.com:

1. REO SPEEDWAGON VIDEO GAME (link) - Play as Ruby Easton, reporter for Entertainment Now, on assignment with the classic rock band REO Speedwagon to cover their latest album release party. But when the day of the red carpet event arrives, one of the band members is nowhere to be found! Help Ruby search scenes, find clues, and track down the rogue rocker before the fans find out. The full version of Find Your Own Way Home features:
* Soundtrack featuring REO's new album and classic hits
* More than 70 rockin' levels
* Cool power-ups and special items to acquire
Find Your Own Way Home in this rock-n-roll adventure! Play now! Click here to download your free trial!
2. BABY TEETH EXTRACTION USING AN RC CAR! (video) - Want to get rid of those pesky baby teeth? Why wait till they fall out, when you can use a remote control car!
3. GAME CONCEPTS FOR BANDS (podcast) - REO Speedwagon has there own video game out...Pretty tame for a legendary rock band...So we decided to come up with our own game concepts for bands!
4. BREAST FEEDING IN PUBLIC (podcast) - A woman was thrown out of a Target in Harper Woods for breast feeding her child...Do people really still get upset about this?
5. TIGER WOODS (podcast) - Tiger Woods cheated on his wife...possibly with a few different women! To make things worse the greatest golfer in the world can't multi-task! Even we can drive and argue with our significant other at the same time!
6. SAMUELSEN ON SPORTS (blog) - Tiger/Elin Video Game...Kudos to Break.com for coming up with this online game where you have to navigate Tiger and his mistress in a Cadillac Escalade away from a club-wielding Elin. I must admit that after awhile I just gave up to see what she'd do to the SUV. Good work time-killer.

Jim, Jamie, & Nicole Show - Dec 2, 2009

One more day of the JJ&N Show. Highlight of the day was the Tiger Woods voicemail. Can't wait to hear Jeff & Bill's reactions tomorrow. Sad that this is what sports news has turned into; Aaron Sorkin foreshadowed it more than ten years ago in an episode of Sports Night:

"Look, I got into [sports journalism] 'cause I liked getting people to like sports. And I've turned into a P.R. man for punks and thugs. Any atrocity, no matter how ridiculous or hideous or childish, it doesn't matter. I make it sports. Ten cent bag man whacks a skater's leg with a crow bar, that's sports. Second round draft pick gets cranky in a Houston bar and that's sports. And let's not forget the mother of all great sports stories -- a double homicide in Brentwood."

Speaking of sports, there was just one update to the website today, another entry on Jamie's blog:

1. SAMUELSEN ON SPORTS (blog) - Perhaps this is why Bobby Bowden is done...I don't know if this is what Bowden coaches his players to do, or if his player was simply rebelling. But either way, this is a poor technique.

Jim, Jamie, & Nicole Show - Dec 1, 2009

D&D are off today and tomorrow -- no "Best Of" show today, just sports by Jamie, traffic and weather by Nicole, and news and DJ'ing by Jim O'Brien. There are a couple new posts on the website:

1. SAMUELSEN ON SPORTS (blog) - Jamie posted a couple updates to his blog today; watch a great sports prank from a Thanksgiving NBA game and a Florida Panthers goalie get literally almost decapitated by his own player.
2. D-list Week of 11.30.09 (video) - Weekly D&D update video...bad Christmas albums list and D&D scheduling update...

D&D - Nov 30, 2009

Back to live D&D -- for one day at least. The guys are off tomorrow and Wednesday while Jeff's daughter has surgery. Definitely more important things in life than keeping us entertained, though they did a pretty good job of that today. There was a gluttony of web content today (see below), along with segments about bed bugs, listeners' favorite Christmas songs and albums, and the upcoming Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concert on HBO. We also have a new D&D intro "remix," courtesy of fellow listener Simply Agrestic. Web-worthy topics were, as chosen by the weekend weekday warriors over at WCSX.com:

1. MUPPETS RHAPSODY (video link) - No, not a bad acid flashback from the 60's...it's the Muppets performing Bohemian Rhapsody. No, really. Click here to watch the video.
2. KATIE COURIC (pics link) - Katie Couric backs that thang up! Candid photos of news anchor busting loose on a dance floor. Click here to check out the pics.
3. WOLFMAN MAC GOES NATIONWIDE! (article link) - Our buddy Wolfman Mac has gone national with "Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive In" -- click here to read about the Wolfman!
4. JEFF'S DAUGHTER IS HAVING SURGERY TOMORROW - JEFF IS A NERVOUS WRECK (podcast) - Understandably, Deminski is more than a little freaked out about his almost 3 year old daughter having surgery on both eyes tomorrow. Jeff wants to know if any listeners who have been there before were able to stay with their child up until they were put to sleep.
5. REMEMBER LYNSEE? SHE GAVE BIRTH LIVE ON THE INTERNET! (podcast) - D&D talk to Lynsee, a woman who broadcast the birth of her first baby on the INTERNET for all to see. Find out what Lynsee has to say about the experience!
6. MATT STAFFORD IN PAIN, AND TIGER WOODS 911 CALL (podcast) - D&D play audio from NFL Films - sounds like Matt Stafford was hurtin’ for certain! He was mic'd up for the Lions/Browns game...watch video of that dramatic final drive here. Also, what the hell is going on with Tiger Woods? D&D play the 911 call.
7. REAL OR FAKE (podcast) - Guys, what do you prefer? Real, or fake? We are talking about CHRISTMAS TREES! Get your mind out of the gutter!
8. MARK BEAMANN (podcast) - D&D talked to a guy named Mark Beamann of Wines-That-Rock.com. Think of it as Rock and Roll "Flavored" wine.
9. DID BLACK FRIDAY BLACKEN YOUR SOUL? (podcast) - So, did you go shopping on Black Friday? If so, was it worth it? Or were you nearly trampled at Wal-Mart?

D&D - Nov 27, 2009 - Best Of

Another "Best Of" show today -- it was a lot more robust in regards to the D&D segments than yesterday. The podcast is almost an hour and a half today as opposed to less than an hour yesterday. Dave Doran aired old D&D interviews with CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Cheers' George Wendt, Police drummer Stewart Copeland, actor Gene Hackman, and Star Wars: the Musical narrator (and C3P0 actor) Anthony Daniels. Most of these guys were on to plug books; Wendt's "Drinking With George," Copeland's "Strange Things Happen," and Hackman's "Escape from Andersonville." Dr. Gupta is also the recent author of "Cheating Death." The only non-interview segment to be reaired during these holiday repeats was the segment from last month about teaching your kids to fight back.

As plugged during the show -- join Nicole Salem at the Hamlin Pub tonight in Shelby Township for contests and prizes!

D&D - Nov 26, 2009 - Best Of

"Best Of" show today, as expected. The entire morning crew apparently had the day off, as Dave Doran filled in. Only three D&D segments were played amongst all the music -- their conversation with Harry Shearer from September, the Josh Pelt ("Miracle on the Hudson" survivor) interview from sometime in 2009 (can't for the life of me figure out when they talked to this guy), and the in-studio appearance of "The Big Man," Clarence Clemons from October. Not sure if there'll be a regular show tomorrow or not, but we'll get it up here whether it is or not.
