D&D - Mar 31, 2009

Not sure what was up with the Internet stream yesterday, but it's back to "normal" today -- which means the infomercials are back. Easier to edit, but less "true" D&D sponsors make it into the recordings. Oh well, c'est la vie. Hopefully this March Bandness contest will be over soon and the amount of music D&D play will go down again. Or maybe I'm only saying that because my bracket sucks.

The guys also played a few clips from Obama's auto-related press conference yesterday -- clips they considered "boring" but yet not too boring to play on-air. Why would you trust someone enough to vote for them, but not trust them enough to have faith in their tough decisions? And did a caller seriously say that "This president's goal is to bust the unions?" The same president who endorses the Employee Free Choice Act and nominated pro-labor Hilda Solis as Labor Secretary? You've got to be fucking kidding me. Was she trying to call into Rush Limbaugh and dialed WCSX by mistake? D&D would do good to shy away from politics and they always have in the past, largely because it draws out the stupid in people. WCSX.com has a bit more on today's show:

1. STATE OF THE SHOW (podcast) - You have heard of the State of the Union? Perhaps the State of the State? Well this is the "State of the Show." D&D encouranged listeners to call in with their oppinions of how they like the show so far. Not surprisingly, fans have REALLY missed D&D...and making fun of Rudy and Nicole.
2. TOM LEWAND (podcast) - Tom Lewand called in to talk about how Ford Field is being transformed for the Final Four. Since tickets cost about $2500, it’s safe to say that fans can expect a killer experience.
3. NAME THAT TUNE...ON RUDY’S TEETH (podcast) - Aside from being assistant producer and phone screener for the D&D show, Rudy is also a talented musician. He can tap out a tune with his teeth - can you guess the song?
4. FREE PRESS AND DETROIT NEWS (podcast) - The Free Press and Detroit News will now only be delivering twice a week. Will you be heading up to the store to get your morning paper? Reading it online? Or maybe, not reading the paper anymore at all...
5. JEFF NEEDS THERAPY (podcast) - Well...we already knew that. Actually, it’s PHYSICAL therapy he needs for an injured shoulder. Apparently this will involve ELECTRIC SHOCK!?
6. This Week’s D-list! (podcast) - The weekly D&D Show video. Wonder if Doyle will have another seizure?

D&D - Mar 30, 2009

The WCSX stream seems to be set up a bit differently now, maybe the issues last Friday were related to this. 99% of the "Internet-only" infomercial ads are now gone, so it would appear that the online stream now mirrors exactly what is heard over the air. What this means for the shows listed here is a slight increase in the number of ads, but a lot less repetition, new advertisers to list here, as well as ads for sponsors we've listed here before but haven't been able to include in the podcasts. Shows will also be posted a tad bit later in the day as it's a bit more of an exercise to edit them up.

Here's a bit of what was featured on today's show according to WCSX.com:

1. THE OTHER HALF OF FAMOUS TWINS (link) - Ashton Kutcher is a dashing (albeit goofy) leading man and the most famous cougar cub in history, but few people know that he has a fraternal twin. Michael Kutcher was born with cerebral palsy and had a life-saving heart transplant when he was 13-years-old. Always his twins protector when the two were growing up, Ashton decided to move to Hollywood to pursue his acting career, while Michael stayed in Iowa and sells retirement plans...Check out more twins here...
2. GHOST HAUNTS CASTLE? (pics) - Experts on the paranormal are scratching their heads over this image, showing an odd figure apparently wearing period clothes and peering from a window in a Scottish castle. The shot was taken by a tourist in May of last year and made public Friday by scholar Richard Wiseman, who received it when he invited people from around the world to send him their photos of ghosts...Here at WCSX, we have some guesses!
3. SHANNON SHELTON ON MSU IN THE FINAL FOUR (podcast) - Shannon Shelton, of freep.com called in to talk about Michigan State’s rise to the Final Four. Jason Carr, dressing in his Spartan’s practice jersey, remains unable to contain his glory.
4. GUYS PLANNING THEIR WEDDINGS!? (podcast) - Can we all agree that there are some things a guy should never do? How about when a man is involved in the planning of his own wedding? D&D agree that is something that should be left to the bride.
5. NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR KWAME! (podcast) - Former Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick has really had it rough. He is being forced to live on JUST $10,000 per month. Being the humanitarians that they are, D&D sent Leah the Intern out to ask for donations to help our poor, impoverished Kwamster.
6. ROD MELONI (podcast) - As new developments occur with The Big Three…D&D went to Channel 4’s Business Editor Rod Meloni...Rick Wagoner is out at GM, and things look to get worse before they get better...
7. THE NIGHT OUT (podcast) - Nicole, Rudy, and Rudy’s friend Wolfe went out Saturday night...Rudy still refuses to take his hat off at the bar...Nicole got too hammered and barfed in the parking lot...Ah good times...

D&D Flashback - October 4, 2007

Thanks to another fellow D&D listener, we just recently got hooked up with some shows from Oct - Dec 2007 -- almost the entire run of the "Deminski & Doyle Morning Show" on 97.1. We'll be cleaning the audio up as quickly as we can and get links up here. Here's the full show from Oct. 4, 2007, the third day of the "new" 97.1 morning show. This was a classic show, featuring the new quickly-altered Mindcandy intro, an early-morning visit by Cletus to not-Jay-the-Cable-Guy's apartment (a bit so funny, they played it twice), a replay of a prank call to Jeff's horny Aunt Marty by comic Mike Stanley, as well as the realization that the FCC thinks the Bible is too dirty to read from on FM airwaves.

P.S. All upcoming WKRK / WXYT D&D Flashback shows (including this one) will be brought to you commercial free. Hey WXYT, go home and get your fucking shinebox!

September 2005 podcasts

Here's some 97.1 D&D shows from September 2005. Thanks again go out to a "Fellow D&D Fan." As stated in post about the July 2005 recordings (and the August 2005 post below):

"These were recorded by a listener while at work; quality and completeness are not guaranteed. It seems like most shows are missing at least the final hour since the "recorder" had to leave work at 6pm (if you recall the show used to be from 3pm-7pm). Commercials are included and the quality on some of the recordings are better than others; there are some skips and volume issues that were on the original audio. With the new show taking up so much time, we didn't have a chance to clean any of these recordings up. The only modification we did to the original audio was to reduce the MP3 bitrate to make the filesize a little more manageable."

Here are the shows we have from Sept. 2005; more to come soon.

D&D - Mar 27, 2009

Happy Friday everyone. Glad I have a slow day today -- I got a hold of a few different sources for today's show and they all seem to have audio issues, mainly dropouts at almost the same spot. There must have been an issue with the WCSX stream. I'll get links up here as we go along, and I'll try to splice together what I can, but it'll be a slower process than normal. First hour is almost finished. Today's show is up, pretty sure it's all fixed, let me know if there are any messed up parts. Here's a bit of what it featured, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. ASSEMBLY LINE CONCERT (link) - "The Assembly Line Concert," a 10-day continuous musical tribute to the auto industry is going on now at AJ’s Music Cafe on 9 mile in Ferndale — where they’re attempting to break the Guinness record for "longest concert by multiple artists." Café owner A.J. O’Neil organized the show, which is to run through March 30, to pay tribute to American workers, products and automobiles at a time when the industry faces immense peril. CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE ASSEMBLY LINE CONCERT (AND WATCH IT LIVE ON THE VIDEO PLAYER)
2. DEAD AT YOUR AGE (link) - Check out this cool website dead.atyourage.com...It tells you what famous people you have outlived...Keith Richards unable to be reached for comment...
3. RUDY AND LEAH THE INTERN (podcast) - WCSX has a new intern named Leah. Rudy thought she was cute UNTIL he heard that her name was Leah. You see, Rudy has a young neice named Leah and because of that, he would feel creepy dating a girl with that same name. Never mind the fact that he has no idea whether or not Leah the intern is interested in him...Yeah, THAT’S not creepy.
4. CHRIS CHELIOS (podcast) - Chris Chelios called in to give his weekly Red Wings update...he also seems to have insider knowledge about D&D sharing a Mai Tai, and being beaten up by Jiri Hudler.
5. KATHLEEN MADIGAN (podcast) - Comedian Kathleen Madigan was live in studio this morning with D&D. Kathleen has appeared on Last Comic Standing, and is a veteran of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
6. DEAD.ATYOURAGE.COM (podcast) - D&D found a really cool (if you’re into the macabre) website that will give you a list of famous people that you have outlived - or that died at your exact age.
7. JIM GAFFIGAN (link) - Comedian Jim Gaffigan called in to chat for a bit. Anyone want some Hot Pockets?

D&D - Mar 26, 2009

Listening to today's show right now myself -- looks like the source we used for the first two hours wasn't the greatest. There are short little "pops" throughout. We'll try to get that cleaned up and replaced with another source with possible. Today's show featured a Lost update, Rudy in drag, and more...here's some of the "more," thanks to WSCX.com:

1. WEIRD FOOD COMBOS/HOT POCKETS (podcast) - Some girl won a $25,000 college scholarship for putting peanut butter on a cheese steak...We took calls on weird food combinations, then played a clip from comedian Jim Gaffigan regarding hot pockets...If you don’t like hot pockets the jingle is very catchy..You will be singing hooooooot pooooooockets all day!
2. WHAT’S STILL GOOD ABOUT DETROIT (podcast) - With all the economic issues in America some major cities are downsizing…Detroit and Flint made the list...We kept a positive attitude and took calls on "What’s still good about Detroit."
3. JOHN CENA (podcast) - This morning WWE Superstar John Cena called in to promote his new movie "12 Rounds." No classic one-liners like "Get to the choppa!" Just a movie full of action!
4. PYSCHO WIFE 911 CALL (article) - Crazy psycho bitch of the day. D&D also took some calls about guys' experiences with crazy women.
5. PLAY THE NUMBERS (link) - D&D played another round of the Michigan Lottery "Play the Numbers" game during the 8am hour. Doyle switched from sports to music. Worst. Episode. Ever.
6. EIGHT-POINT-TWO SECONDS (article) - Listeners called in to answer the age-old question, "What can the average guy do in 8.2 seconds?" The listener suggestions were better than the real answer.
7. WCSX GAMES (link) - "Captain Seaman" Jim O'Brien uploaded some old school web games to the D&D webpage.

D&D - Mar 25, 2009

Sorry for the late post today, busy morning today. I'm planning a vacation soon -- would anyone be willing & able to help us out and take over the blog for a few days in May? Let me know -- either leave a comment on here or e-mail me at deminskidoylefan@lycos.com. Here's what WCSX.com had to say about today's show:

1. SEVEN TERRIFYING CREATURES YOU’LL NEVER SEE COMING! (link) - There are some just outright evil creatures out there. At least the vast majority have the common decency to be upfront about the fact they can do us serious harm–claws, big teeth, bright colors. But not these guys. These jerks can ruin your day, and you’ll never see them coming. Click here to see the creatures!
2. LEX LUTHOR BAILOUT (video) - Everyone’s trying to get a bailout from the Government...even Lex Luthor.
3. IS THIS THE NEW LIONS LOGO? (pics) - Someone noticed that a truck on nflshop.com had a different Detroit Lions logo on it...is THIS the new logo we’ve heard about?
4. GEORGE KELL (1922-2009) (podcast) - Ernie Harwell called in to talk about George Kell, who sadly passed away yesterday, at the age of 86. Kell will be remembered for his easygoing “country-gentleman” style of broadcasting.
5. THE BOTTLE INCIDENT (podcast) - Jeff, the athletic Adonis was too lazy to get up after a nap to use the bathroom...decided it would be easier to relieve himself in a bottle...It gets better, his wife then tried to empty the trash where the bottle sat...Now that’s hot!

D&D - Mar 24, 2009

It was pretty fun to listen to the inaugural D&D Show on WCSX again yesterday. Thanks again to the fellow listener who hooked us up with the missing opening to that show. Don't forget, we have links to some old WKRK / WXYT podcasts here and here (please let us know if any links are broken, btw). Hopefully we'll get some more of those 2005/2006 shows up soon. Here's some info about today's show from WCSX.com:

1. TOP 100 MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE (link) - Here's the list we were talking about Tuesday morning from Yahoo Movies - click here to check it out.
2. ROCK TRIVIA (podcast) - The Doc of Rock, Doug Podell e-mailed Jeff a Rock Trivia quiz and boasted that he had scored 8/10. Not to be outdone, Jeff and Bill also take the quiz. So what if they had, Jim, Jason Carr, Nicole, and several listeners helping them.
3. TECHNOLOGY OUR KIDS WILL NEVER KNOW (podcast) - D&D talked about things we use that children born today will likely never know. For example - print newspapers, land line phones, and maybe even school books.
4. SETH DAVIS (podcast) - Seth Davis, the author of "When March Went Mad" joined the show to talk about the game that forever changed college basketball.
5. RUDY’S DREAM (podcast) - Maybe not a grinding halt...Maybe not a total derailment...But a definite detour from reality...Let us tell you about a guy named Rudy...a simple man who dreams of lavish fields of Doritos, flowing rivers of Jagermeister, viewing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in a pair of Air Jordans, and delivering Uzis to Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday at the O.K. Corral...only in his head and in The Twilight Zone...
6. DON BREWER (Wikipedia) - D&D spoke briefly to the lead singer from Grand Funk Railroad who tried to woo voters in WCSX's March Bandness competition.
7. This Week’s D-list! (video) - D&D's weekly video update...does Doyle have a facial tic?

D&D - Mar 23, 2009

Welcome to another week, everyone. As Doyle mentioned a few times, CBS "Heidi'd" the MSU game over the weekend. They won, Michigan lost, and Kansas is still going to repeat. Or so says the guess I pulled out of my ass. Here's more notes from today's show "courtesy" of WCSX.com:

1. WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK (video) - Jeff made Karen Savelly watch this video of when “Animals Attack” (we were talking about the raging Wild Turkeys in Jackson)
2. SEXOMNIA? REALLY? (article) - She wakes up in the middle of the night and...well...you know. Have you ever heard of "sexomnia" - click here to check out her story

3. ASSEMBLY LINE CONCERT (link / video stream) - "The Assembly Line Concert," a 10-day continuous musical tribute to the auto industry is going on now at AJ’s Music Cafe on 9 mile in Ferndale — where they’re attempting to break the Guinness record for "longest concert by multiple artists." [Click here to check out the website and watch live.]
4. MARCH BANDNESS - VOTE FOR STONES VS BROWNE (link) - March Bandness has begun! For the nine A.M. hour it’s Rolling Stones vs Jackson Browne - workforce members log in to cast your vote - click here and register at the top of the page
5. ASSEMBLY LINE CONCERT (podcast) - AJ's Cafe in Ferndale is planning to break the Guinness record for "longest concert by multiple artist" as it hosts a 10 day continuous musical tribute to the American auto industry. The Assembly Line Concert will feature at least 240 acts, performing 240 hours nonstop! We sent Rudy over there this morning to scope it out! AJ’s Cafe is located at 240 Nine Mile Road in Ferndale! Click [here] for more info...
6. ROCK TRIVIA (podcast) - Rolling Stone online had a fun Rock and Roll trivia quiz. The guys tested their knowledge, and now you too can test your rock IQ.
7. MONICA CONYERS: STILL DELUSIONAL (podcast) - According to Detroit City Council woman, Monica Conyers - it is not possible for a black person to be a racist. Wait...what? Really? You have to hear what she says in order to believe it.
8. ALTERNATE MOVIE ENDINGS (podcast) - Jim and Rudy say that sometimes when they watch movies that they have already seen - they still think there is a possibility that the ending will be different. If you think that makes no sense, don’t worry - you're not alone.
9. RUDY GOES TO FLORIDA (podcast) - This past weekend, Rudy went to Florida. It wouldn’t be the D&D show if he didn't have a story about some rotten little kid on the airplane. Jeff also analyzes the pattern and severity of Rudy's sun burn.

D&D - Mar 20, 2009

Happy Friday, y'all. D&D mentioned the President's inaugural "Obama-ism" from the Tonight Show last night. The surprise wasn't that someone from the White House stuck their foot in their mouth, but that it wasn't Joe Biden. Kudos to Obama to for a quick apology, but a critics have a strong argument when they compare the amount of media coverage of this slip of the tongue to the backlash towards Bush after each of his (many, many, many) dumb statements.

Here's more from today's show from WCSX.com:

1. MONDAY - MARCH BANDNESS BEGINS! (info) - Monday morning we kick of “March Bandness” here on WCSX — make sure you register BEFORE we begin — winner gets a trip to Vegas! First battle between David Bowie and Bob Dylan Monday at 7am.

3. DEMINSKI CRIES ON DOYLE’S SHOULDER (podcast) - Jeff Deminski tearfully tells listeners that this weekend, he will be disassembling his 2 year old daughter’s crib and replacing it with a "Big Girl’s Bed." Doyle and Jim do their best to console him.
4. DON HENLEY (podcast) - This morning D&D talked to Don Henley from The Eagles...They are preparing to invade The Palace this Saturday night! Don talks all things Eagles...and about their peyote induced photo shoot!

D&D - Mar 17, 2009

Top o' the mornin' to y'all...happy St. Patrick's Day! D&D were broadcasting live from Dooley's today. Y'all enjoy your imbibing -- safely, please. WCSX will actually be out and about all day at various drinkin' spots throughout Metro Detroit today. D&D had fun this morning -- Rudy got to drink on the air and Nicole Salem dressed up as a naughty cop and will be passing out "hydration citations" all day at each of the 'CSX locations. Unfortunately, if you want to see what she looks like, you'll need to sign up a WCSX Workforce Account, since they pictures were too "controversial" to show to the public at large. Here's a bit more from today's show, thanks to WCSX.com:

1. EVERYONE’S FIGHTING OVER VITAMIN WATER 10 (video) - Everyone on the show LOVES the Vitamin Water 10 so much that Rudy & Nicole are fighting over it...and of course, Doyle’s the smart one
2. EARLY DRINKERS (podcast) - During our live broadcast from Dooley’s - we wanted to find out how early have you gotten up to have a drink? And "hair of the dog" didn’t count...pretty amazing calls (tells you a lot about what people REALLY do on a cruise!)
3. RUDY’S SPELLING TEST (podcast) - So we’re live at Dooley’s for St. Patricks Day — and Jeff decides to give Rudy a spelling test...ummm, what could go wrong?
4. NICOLE THE SEXY COP (podcast) - Nicole Salem IS the law. Just ask her. Today Nicole tried on her sexy cop outfit in studio in preparation for St. Patricks Day live broadcast where she will be dressed as a cop to hand out Hydration Citations courtesy of Vitamin Water 10. Judging by D&Ds reaction - this is one cop you WANT to be frisked by (she’ll be all over Detroit today!)

It’s extremely boring, and let’s face it we all know how to fasten a seat belt...Plus if the plane is going down an emergency exit, and flotation device isn’t gonna help much...You either go out Buddy Holly style, or end up on a deserted island talking to a volleyball...Well this flight attendant found a way to make that trip to the runway far more entertaining!
3. ST. PATRICK’S DAY LIVE BROADCAST (info) - The D&D Show hits the road for St. Patrick’s Day! Join Jeff, Bill, Nicole, and Rudy as they celebrate a day of drinking with a live broadcast from Dooley’s Tavern in Sterling Heights starting at 6am! click here for a map and directions

Judging by D&Ds reaction - this is one cop you WANT to be frisked by.

D&D - Mar 10, 2009

For the most part, D&D leave politics out of their show (one of the reasons I think they attract an broad audience). Politics, sports, and music can be found anywhere on the radio; these guys bring in something unique. The only political stories (other than the absolute major ones, i.e. the presidential election) they mention are local Detroit-area stories. City council, Kwame, etc. More Kwame text messages recently came out; Jeff and Nicole's Rachel-Maddow-esque re-enactment was an automatic D&D classic.

Here's a bit more from today's show, thanks to WCSX.com:

1. JIM BELIEVES IN GHOSTS (oh dear) - Jeff and Bill got on Jim O'Brien's case about his belief in psychics, ghosts, and voodoo dolls.
2. TEXT MESSAGE RE-ENACTMENT (podcast) - Kwame Kilpatrick - played by Jeff Deminski, and Christine Beatty - played by Nicole Salem. Jeff and Nicole try out their acting skills and read through some of the newly released text messages. Or should we say SEXT messages? [Free Press article from M.L. Elrick--who came on the show today--and Jim Schaefer about texts can be read here.]
3. BUTCH TRUCKS (podcast) - D&D talked to Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers. Check out the interview and see what he had to say here!
4. PINEWOOD DERBY (podcast) - Bill Doyle and his young son are preparing for the Pinewood Derby - something many fathers can relate to. Doyle has run into several engineering and design issues and is feeling a little stressed. By "a little stressed," I mean THIS CLOSE TO FREAKING OUT.
5. ERIC MADDOX (podcast) - The author or Mission: Blacklist #1, Eric Maddox spoke with D&D. Maddox orchestrated and executed the capture of "Ace Of Spades," Saddam Hussein.

D&D - Mar 9, 2009

Sorry about the delay today -- primary source had PC issues so I had to contact my secondary source to obtain the show. I haven't had a chance to listen yet myself, but here is a rundown of some of today's topics from WCSX.com:

1. LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS (link) - Here is the letter from Troy Clarke, President of General Motors, followed by a response from Gregory Knoxx President of Knoxx Machinery...check out the letter here.
2. L. BROOKS PATTERSON (podcast) - The "White Devil" himself...uhh - we mean Oakland County Executive, L Brooks Patterson, joined the show today to talk about Cobo and the Detroit City Council. Then he led the show in a rousing rendition of "Onward Christian Soldier." Ok, I made that part up.
3. RUDY’S LATEST COMMENT (podcast) - Rudy had another run in with a person commenting on the amount of beer bottles he returned over the weekend...But at least he is not poor cause he has his lamb chops!
4. WHY ARE YOU ON FACEBOOK? (podcast) - Seems like everyone has a Facebook account...Maybe to find an old lover, friend, date, or the fact that you have hours to kill doing nothing...D&D’s Facebook Status..."It is not ironic your child’s first word was FAIL!"
5. LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS (podcast) - Jeff read the letter from Troy Clarke, President of General Motors, followed by a response from Gregory Knoxx President of Knoxx Machinery...Then we took your calls in reaction...

D&D - Mar 6, 2009

Yay, Friday. Hey if anyone took pictures of the new Badazzled Cobo, please let me know! Or better yet, if anyone can upload the video from FOX 2 where they talked about WCSX. I've got to see this, though it sounds like The Man destroyed the "renovations" pretty quick. Good show today, it's always fun when Doyle plays Password. Here's some more of what was featured on the show, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. SUPER BONUS POINT TUESDAY - FREE BURGERS!!!! (info) - Jeff Deminski is making good on his word - what started as an honest mistake about "Super Bonus Points" in a D&D-mail is now FREE BURGER AND FRIES FOR THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE - Tuesday, March 10th from 6-8PM at Mr. Joe’s in Southfield (Northwestern & 12 Mile)...and after the first 100 - $3.00 burger and fries for EVERYONE after that!!
2. WHEN GOOD IMPLANTS GO BAD! (video) - April Stokely reportedly paid $5,500 for butt implants...Her new cheeks have drooped so dramatically that she now has trouble bending over! Look out J-LO! Click here to check out the video of the worst arse ever!
3. DISCONTINUED CEREALS (link) - As the lesson goes, all good things must come to an end. As time passed, products fell by the wayside to make room for the latest products and their sugar-blasted flavors and snazzy box art. Maybe some cereals got lost in the shuffle as their assembly lines drawn to close. But that doesn’t mean those cereals are forgotten. Our memories are still fond, at least as fond as they can be while on a sugar high and waxing nostalgic...click here to check out a tribute to discontinued cereals.
4. 10 GRUESOME SPORTS INJURIES (link) - Sports injuries are a booming industry. If you had a better supplement than smelling salts to treat concussions, you would be a millionaire and a Nobel Prize winner for chemistry. Short of any miracle treatments, however, knee injuries and concussions are destined to continue. In the past 20 years, athletes have trained like never before and they’ve ingested many supplements to help build muscle mass. In an effort to avoid some gruesome sports injuries, athletes have donned some immense pads, but they sometimes cause as many injuries as they prevent. Our list of gruesome sports injuries, however, are so freakish that nothing could have prevented them. The most incredible sports injuries are of the bone-popping, blood-spewing order — and the bulk of them of career-enders...click here to see the top 10 most gruesome sports injuries...
5. DANGEROUS CRAP WE DID AS KIDS (podcast) - Remember the days when we didn’t wear helmets? Or other safety gear for that matter? It seems that safety wasn’t as big of a concern when we were growing up as it is now. It’s no suprise that most of us would probably FREAK out if we caught our kids doing some of the stuff we did when we were little. Like Jim O’Brien jumping of the roof and into the pool.
6. BEDAZZLING COBO (podcast) - Aside from being the best morning show in Detroit- Deminski and Doyle are also humanitarians. Gentlemen and Scholars. Pillars of the Community. It is no surprise that they decided to help Detroit city council solve some of it’s Cobo problems by doing some renovations FOR FREE. The sent the interns out to Cobo with love in their hearts, smiles on their faces, bedazzlers in their hands. Mother Theresa would be so proud.
7. COBO TALK (podcast) - There was an emergency city council meeting to try to overrule Ken Cockrel's veto on the Cobo deal. As usual, hilarity ensues and we had the audio clips to prove it.
8. HARRY SHEARER (podcast) - Harry Shearer, of Spinal Tap and Simpsons fame called in to talk to D&D and talk about the show he will be playing in Detroit.
9. GARY GRAFF (podcast) - Gary Graff, the WCSX classic rock insider called in to give a preview of what you can expect at the Fleetwood Mac concert happening this Sunday.
10. GARY GULMAN (comedian) - Gary Gulman dropped by the studio to chat with D&D and to plug his show in Ann Arbor.

D&D - Mar 5, 2009

Don't think this was mentioned on the show, but click here to watch Jon Stewart make CNBC look like the Mickey Mouse organization they truly are. Here's some topics that actually were on the show, thanks to WCSX.com:

1. BEST PRANK EVER! (video) - There’s nothing better than involving thousands of innocent bystanders in a great punking. The guys at College Humor do just that, as they ask students at the University of Maryland to convince Amir that he’s pulled off a miracle shot for a cool half-million...click here for the video...
2. OCTOMOM 911 CALL (podcast) - Back in October (before Octomom had her most recent litter of 8), it seems she was having a hard time caring for the 6 kids she already had. When one Octo-Tot wanders off (unsupervised) from the front yard, the panicked mother makes a desperate (and hilarious) 911 call. Listen to Octo’s frantic 911 call here.
3. SEXY ACCENTS (podcast) - Is there really anything hotter than some hot foreign babe that has an accent? Of course not. D&D took a poll to see which accents are the biggest turn ons.
4. RUDY VS. JASON (podcast) - Rudy vs Jason Carr in the battle of who knows horror! Well more like “Name That Tune” horror theme style!
5. SPIDERS & PHOBIAS (podcast) - There are only 2 things in this world that scare us...One is Dr. Evil...The other, Carnies...circus folk...small hands, smell like cabbage...And then there’s Rudy’s horrible fear of spiders!

D&D - Mar 4, 2009

Is it Friday yet? No, shortening the work week wasn't talked about on today's show (thought it should have been), but here are a few topics that were, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. A REAL LIFE D&D BONUS CARD? (pic) - Thanks to Mark in Hazel Park for this VERY creative D&D Super Bonus Card that he mailed Jeff...**NOTE: THE PARTY IS NEXT TUESDAY AT MR. JOE’S IN SOUTHFIELD FROM 6-8PM…NOT SNOOKERS**
2. GEDDY LEE (podcast) - Geddy Lee checked in with D&D today to talk about the new Rush album "Retrospective." Rush Super-Fan, Bill Doyle maintained his composure through out the entire interview.
3. ROTTEN SMELLS THAT WE LOVE (podcast) - Jeff Deminski admits that he LOVES the smell of Skunk. In an effort to make this appear totally normal, he invites others to call in and confess to liking smells that others find gross.
4. CASHIERS THAT COMMENT ON YOUR PURCHASE (podcast) - We all know how violently Rudy reacts when a cashier has the audacity to comment on the fact that he is buying 800 cases of Ramen Noodles. A similar incident happened to Jeff - who doesn’t see the big deal. If you listen carefully, you can actually hear Rudy’s blood pressure going through the roof.
5. FINDING DAD’S PORN STASH (podcast) - Most of us can probably recall "stumbling upon" Dad’s nudie mags when we were teens, right? These days, that’s the sort of thing that can actually get Dad charged with child abuse.

D&D - Mar 2, 2009

Watch out, Detroit. There are demons loose! Those crazy Christians are at it again -- this time, one of the Detroit City Council members and a local pastor are summoning the power of Yahweh against the evil MGM Grand Casino. Not for the sin of gambling, but for "demon billboard eyes."

Here's a bit more about today's show from WCSX.com:

1. DETROIT CITY COUNCIL (podcast) - Monica Conyers is at it again...Comments about a Teamster, and trying to convince the people of Detroit that her and fellow councilmen are not stupid!
2. MALTBY AND DRAPER (podcast) - D and D got a chance to talk to Kirk Maltby on is 1,000th win! As a special surprise, they also spoke with Chris Draper- who also completed his 1,000th win.
3. RICK THE INTERN AND THE HOLY WATER (podcast) - A billboard for MGM Grand in Detroit has started a controversy. Large, glowing, yellow eyes can only be one thing - sinister. In an effort to calm down some Detroit city council members (so they can get back to more pressing matters), we sent Rick the Intern on a mission. With a water gun filled with Holy Water. Demons beware!
4. RUDY GETS A RUB DOWN (podcast) - Last Friday, Rudy conveniently forgot to tell D and D that he was on his way to getting a massage after work. In Ferndale. Just what exactly happened?? Plus - D and D got ahold of the massage therapist on air - apparently Rudy has very nice legs!!
