D&D - Mar 10, 2009

For the most part, D&D leave politics out of their show (one of the reasons I think they attract an broad audience). Politics, sports, and music can be found anywhere on the radio; these guys bring in something unique. The only political stories (other than the absolute major ones, i.e. the presidential election) they mention are local Detroit-area stories. City council, Kwame, etc. More Kwame text messages recently came out; Jeff and Nicole's Rachel-Maddow-esque re-enactment was an automatic D&D classic.

Here's a bit more from today's show, thanks to WCSX.com:

1. JIM BELIEVES IN GHOSTS (oh dear) - Jeff and Bill got on Jim O'Brien's case about his belief in psychics, ghosts, and voodoo dolls.
2. TEXT MESSAGE RE-ENACTMENT (podcast) - Kwame Kilpatrick - played by Jeff Deminski, and Christine Beatty - played by Nicole Salem. Jeff and Nicole try out their acting skills and read through some of the newly released text messages. Or should we say SEXT messages? [Free Press article from M.L. Elrick--who came on the show today--and Jim Schaefer about texts can be read here.]
3. BUTCH TRUCKS (podcast) - D&D talked to Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers. Check out the interview and see what he had to say here!
4. PINEWOOD DERBY (podcast) - Bill Doyle and his young son are preparing for the Pinewood Derby - something many fathers can relate to. Doyle has run into several engineering and design issues and is feeling a little stressed. By "a little stressed," I mean THIS CLOSE TO FREAKING OUT.
5. ERIC MADDOX (podcast) - The author or Mission: Blacklist #1, Eric Maddox spoke with D&D. Maddox orchestrated and executed the capture of "Ace Of Spades," Saddam Hussein.

D&D - Mar 9, 2009

Sorry about the delay today -- primary source had PC issues so I had to contact my secondary source to obtain the show. I haven't had a chance to listen yet myself, but here is a rundown of some of today's topics from WCSX.com:

1. LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS (link) - Here is the letter from Troy Clarke, President of General Motors, followed by a response from Gregory Knoxx President of Knoxx Machinery...check out the letter here.
2. L. BROOKS PATTERSON (podcast) - The "White Devil" himself...uhh - we mean Oakland County Executive, L Brooks Patterson, joined the show today to talk about Cobo and the Detroit City Council. Then he led the show in a rousing rendition of "Onward Christian Soldier." Ok, I made that part up.
3. RUDY’S LATEST COMMENT (podcast) - Rudy had another run in with a person commenting on the amount of beer bottles he returned over the weekend...But at least he is not poor cause he has his lamb chops!
4. WHY ARE YOU ON FACEBOOK? (podcast) - Seems like everyone has a Facebook account...Maybe to find an old lover, friend, date, or the fact that you have hours to kill doing nothing...D&D’s Facebook Status..."It is not ironic your child’s first word was FAIL!"
5. LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS (podcast) - Jeff read the letter from Troy Clarke, President of General Motors, followed by a response from Gregory Knoxx President of Knoxx Machinery...Then we took your calls in reaction...
6. GARY GRAFF ON FLEETWOOD MAC (podcast) - WCSX Classic Rock Insider Gary Graff called in to give his review of the Fleetwood Mac show Sunday night at the Palace...
7. BELINDA CARLISLE (Wikipedia) - Belinda Carlisle (yes...she’s still hot) is on this season of "Dancing With The Stars" - she checked in with D&D after the 9am music break (Doyle's restraining order is in the mail).

D&D - Mar 6, 2009

Yay, Friday. Hey if anyone took pictures of the new Badazzled Cobo, please let me know! Or better yet, if anyone can upload the video from FOX 2 where they talked about WCSX. I've got to see this, though it sounds like The Man destroyed the "renovations" pretty quick. Good show today, it's always fun when Doyle plays Password. Here's some more of what was featured on the show, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. SUPER BONUS POINT TUESDAY - FREE BURGERS!!!! (info) - Jeff Deminski is making good on his word - what started as an honest mistake about "Super Bonus Points" in a D&D-mail is now FREE BURGER AND FRIES FOR THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE - Tuesday, March 10th from 6-8PM at Mr. Joe’s in Southfield (Northwestern & 12 Mile)...and after the first 100 - $3.00 burger and fries for EVERYONE after that!!
2. WHEN GOOD IMPLANTS GO BAD! (video) - April Stokely reportedly paid $5,500 for butt implants...Her new cheeks have drooped so dramatically that she now has trouble bending over! Look out J-LO! Click here to check out the video of the worst arse ever!
3. DISCONTINUED CEREALS (link) - As the lesson goes, all good things must come to an end. As time passed, products fell by the wayside to make room for the latest products and their sugar-blasted flavors and snazzy box art. Maybe some cereals got lost in the shuffle as their assembly lines drawn to close. But that doesn’t mean those cereals are forgotten. Our memories are still fond, at least as fond as they can be while on a sugar high and waxing nostalgic...click here to check out a tribute to discontinued cereals.
4. 10 GRUESOME SPORTS INJURIES (link) - Sports injuries are a booming industry. If you had a better supplement than smelling salts to treat concussions, you would be a millionaire and a Nobel Prize winner for chemistry. Short of any miracle treatments, however, knee injuries and concussions are destined to continue. In the past 20 years, athletes have trained like never before and they’ve ingested many supplements to help build muscle mass. In an effort to avoid some gruesome sports injuries, athletes have donned some immense pads, but they sometimes cause as many injuries as they prevent. Our list of gruesome sports injuries, however, are so freakish that nothing could have prevented them. The most incredible sports injuries are of the bone-popping, blood-spewing order — and the bulk of them of career-enders...click here to see the top 10 most gruesome sports injuries...
5. DANGEROUS CRAP WE DID AS KIDS (podcast) - Remember the days when we didn’t wear helmets? Or other safety gear for that matter? It seems that safety wasn’t as big of a concern when we were growing up as it is now. It’s no suprise that most of us would probably FREAK out if we caught our kids doing some of the stuff we did when we were little. Like Jim O’Brien jumping of the roof and into the pool.
6. BEDAZZLING COBO (podcast) - Aside from being the best morning show in Detroit- Deminski and Doyle are also humanitarians. Gentlemen and Scholars. Pillars of the Community. It is no surprise that they decided to help Detroit city council solve some of it’s Cobo problems by doing some renovations FOR FREE. The sent the interns out to Cobo with love in their hearts, smiles on their faces, bedazzlers in their hands. Mother Theresa would be so proud.
7. COBO TALK (podcast) - There was an emergency city council meeting to try to overrule Ken Cockrel's veto on the Cobo deal. As usual, hilarity ensues and we had the audio clips to prove it.
8. HARRY SHEARER (podcast) - Harry Shearer, of Spinal Tap and Simpsons fame called in to talk to D&D and talk about the show he will be playing in Detroit.
9. GARY GRAFF (podcast) - Gary Graff, the WCSX classic rock insider called in to give a preview of what you can expect at the Fleetwood Mac concert happening this Sunday.
10. GARY GULMAN (comedian) - Gary Gulman dropped by the studio to chat with D&D and to plug his show in Ann Arbor.

D&D - Mar 5, 2009

Don't think this was mentioned on the show, but click here to watch Jon Stewart make CNBC look like the Mickey Mouse organization they truly are. Here's some topics that actually were on the show, thanks to WCSX.com:

1. BEST PRANK EVER! (video) - There’s nothing better than involving thousands of innocent bystanders in a great punking. The guys at College Humor do just that, as they ask students at the University of Maryland to convince Amir that he’s pulled off a miracle shot for a cool half-million...click here for the video...
2. OCTOMOM 911 CALL (podcast) - Back in October (before Octomom had her most recent litter of 8), it seems she was having a hard time caring for the 6 kids she already had. When one Octo-Tot wanders off (unsupervised) from the front yard, the panicked mother makes a desperate (and hilarious) 911 call. Listen to Octo’s frantic 911 call here.
3. SEXY ACCENTS (podcast) - Is there really anything hotter than some hot foreign babe that has an accent? Of course not. D&D took a poll to see which accents are the biggest turn ons.
4. RUDY VS. JASON (podcast) - Rudy vs Jason Carr in the battle of who knows horror! Well more like “Name That Tune” horror theme style!
5. SPIDERS & PHOBIAS (podcast) - There are only 2 things in this world that scare us...One is Dr. Evil...The other, Carnies...circus folk...small hands, smell like cabbage...And then there’s Rudy’s horrible fear of spiders!

D&D - Mar 4, 2009

Is it Friday yet? No, shortening the work week wasn't talked about on today's show (thought it should have been), but here are a few topics that were, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. A REAL LIFE D&D BONUS CARD? (pic) - Thanks to Mark in Hazel Park for this VERY creative D&D Super Bonus Card that he mailed Jeff...**NOTE: THE PARTY IS NEXT TUESDAY AT MR. JOE’S IN SOUTHFIELD FROM 6-8PM…NOT SNOOKERS**
2. GEDDY LEE (podcast) - Geddy Lee checked in with D&D today to talk about the new Rush album "Retrospective." Rush Super-Fan, Bill Doyle maintained his composure through out the entire interview.
3. ROTTEN SMELLS THAT WE LOVE (podcast) - Jeff Deminski admits that he LOVES the smell of Skunk. In an effort to make this appear totally normal, he invites others to call in and confess to liking smells that others find gross.
4. CASHIERS THAT COMMENT ON YOUR PURCHASE (podcast) - We all know how violently Rudy reacts when a cashier has the audacity to comment on the fact that he is buying 800 cases of Ramen Noodles. A similar incident happened to Jeff - who doesn’t see the big deal. If you listen carefully, you can actually hear Rudy’s blood pressure going through the roof.
5. FINDING DAD’S PORN STASH (podcast) - Most of us can probably recall "stumbling upon" Dad’s nudie mags when we were teens, right? These days, that’s the sort of thing that can actually get Dad charged with child abuse.

D&D - Mar 2, 2009

Watch out, Detroit. There are demons loose! Those crazy Christians are at it again -- this time, one of the Detroit City Council members and a local pastor are summoning the power of Yahweh against the evil MGM Grand Casino. Not for the sin of gambling, but for "demon billboard eyes."

Here's a bit more about today's show from WCSX.com:

1. DETROIT CITY COUNCIL (podcast) - Monica Conyers is at it again...Comments about a Teamster, and trying to convince the people of Detroit that her and fellow councilmen are not stupid!
2. MALTBY AND DRAPER (podcast) - D and D got a chance to talk to Kirk Maltby on is 1,000th win! As a special surprise, they also spoke with Chris Draper- who also completed his 1,000th win.
3. RICK THE INTERN AND THE HOLY WATER (podcast) - A billboard for MGM Grand in Detroit has started a controversy. Large, glowing, yellow eyes can only be one thing - sinister. In an effort to calm down some Detroit city council members (so they can get back to more pressing matters), we sent Rick the Intern on a mission. With a water gun filled with Holy Water. Demons beware!
4. RUDY GETS A RUB DOWN (podcast) - Last Friday, Rudy conveniently forgot to tell D and D that he was on his way to getting a massage after work. In Ferndale. Just what exactly happened?? Plus - D and D got ahold of the massage therapist on air - apparently Rudy has very nice legs!!
