D&D - Oct 30, 2009

Pistons-dominated show today, as was to be expected when it was announced the guys would be broadcasting from the locker room. I wonder how the local classic rock station managed to usurp either of the local sports stations? The Pistons are, in a way, the black sheep of the Detroit pro sports family. Not only are they the only remaning "Detroit" team who play their "home" games in the suburbs, their President is a guy who runs a competing team in another league (and who paired up today with an organization headed by a guy who owns another competing team in the same league -- at least that guy owns a local company and a local major junior team). Anyway...along with the interviews that were podcasted, D&D spoke with Patricia Ellis from the aforementioned Karmanos Cancer Center and Palace President (and Lightning CEO) Tom Wilson. Non-basketball topics included a first- and second-hand report of yesterday's Pig Plague vaccine mayhem from Commerce Township, a report on the genetic component of bad driving (hint, if you have a vagina, wrinkled skin, and/or lack the ability to pronounce the letter L...), an Octomom Halloween costume breaking news alert, and a review of last night's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame anniversary show. Keeping to the pre-party Halloween theme (can't do it tomorrow, as the show will be live from the Palace of Auburn Hills), we had segments about Nicole's costume, a two-part interview with a Corpse Whisperer (and her pseudo-skeptical interviewer from Channel 7, Alicia Smith), an appearance by a Wolfman (and his opinion on the best Halloween movie ever), and a run-in with Oakland University's Freddy Kreuger. Not sure how Stephen Stills fits into this all, but whatever, I'm sure there was a classic rock quota to meet. Featured topics from today were, as picked by the walking dead over at WCSX.com:

Heavy on the interviews today; all three are listed below. By the way, whoever thought a discussion about The Simpsons would turn out so boring? The call-in segments got mostly shafted in the podcast department today; calls were taken about prime spouse algorithms, top Halloween songs (no Great Pumpkin?), and Mr. Doyle's numerical lyric-enigma. Other topics included a blurb about the new Michael Jackson money-making scheme movie, an update on those silly distracted pilots (umm, yeah), a playful pissing contest (that sounds very NSFW) between Jeff and Jamie about celebrity run-ins, and a new iPhone app that will drive your car for you. D&D - Oct 27, 2009

I wonder if D&D took some LSD before constructing today's show, as the topics from this morning were all over the board. The first hour started with part of a tape-delayed, train-wreck interview from yesterday segueing into a discussion about fad diets, then a long segment about perverts (with obligatory Chris Hanson clips), and ending with several cuts from the new Bob Dylan Christmas album. We had a call-in segment about fantasy TV show remakes mid-show and another about how to get lost on the Internet towards the end of the show (inspired by these guys). Bruce Springsteen made an appearance (not really); the Classic Rock Song of the Day giveaway is for Bruce tickets, his upcoming concert at the Palace was promoted, and the guys mentioned his recent concert cancellation due to a death in his family / touring company. The video apparently comes from 2001, but it doesn't matter. Indoor meet. Long distance female runner. Crossing in front of a male long jumper taking off down the runway. Phenomenal. (Make sure the take note of the guy sitting at the start of the runway who can see the whole thing coming from a mile away).
