D&D - Jan 28, 2009

The Superbowl Big Game is coming up, so of course there were a few sports-related stories during today's show. The standard "Top Superbowl Commercials" list came up -- here's another one (H2) -- as did a mention of weird Superbowl wagers (H1). In other football-related news, the drama continues in Kentucky, as a former NFL player-turned-high-school-coach pled Not Guilty to a reckless homicide charge after one of his players died of heatstroke (H3). Moving to hockey, Jason Carr spoke a couple times about a Michigan State hockey player who was drafted by Montreal in 2007 deciding to drop out of school after being suspended for the rest of the season for pretending to be a Hanson Brother. And finally, the D&D crew (and callers) debated on what exactly should be considered a sport (H2).

We got to hear from Nicole Salem a bit more than usual today due to the horrible winter weather we had this morning, Jim O'Brien apparently has a Big-Caucasian-Ass fetish to go also with his elder sex kick (H1), and Rudy gave his answer to yesterday's casino challenge (H3). Calls were solicited on topics such as Canadian panhandlers (apparently they're a big problem in Edmonton), Detroit beggars (I sense a pattern here), and the scams they run (H3), as well as possible new jobs for Kwame (H2) now that even more is coming out on his connection to Sludgegate (H1). Bill Doyle's fathering tips were also questioned (H1). A few video clips were played as well (a weird thing to do on the radio) -- the newest DTV Transition parody commercial (H2), Larry Wilmore from The Daily Show explaining how Black is Back (H1), and selections from the list of best movie death scenes (H4). My favorite can be found here.

Interviews were conducted with some schmuck who's trying to be a movie extra (H4), and more importantly, musician Graham Nash spoke about his career and his new box set while Doyle interrogated another castmember from LOST, Rebecca Mader (H1) -- as Craig Ferguson says, "If you haven't seen it, LOST is about a group of desperate people out of touch with the world. It's based on the true story of the Republican Party." A handful of other minor stories mentioned ranged from the UK Cello Scrotum hoax (H3) to inherited popularity (H4) to an alligator stuck in a pipe (H4) -- yes, that last one came from FARK. Oh yeah, some lady had eight babies (H3).
