D&D - Jan 30, 2009

Outspoken (ask the Secret Service), draft dodging, wanna-be drug czar "Uncle" Ted Nugent called into the show bright and early this morning; after talking about his involvement with the D&D Camp Out For Kids event, he rambled on for 15 minutes about bloody arrows and deer skulls (H1). I wonder what this NRA poster-boy would have said about the PETA "Veggie Love" Superbowl commercial banned by NBC (H3)? I understand D&D work for a classic rock station now, but both of them voted for Obama. Where was the bluntness Deminski showed Tonya Harding last week? Speaking of Barack Obama, the President recently made his Superbowl pick (H2). Maybe the Cardinals snub was aimed at his formal rival? Lions fans are apparently rooting for the Cards en masse. An article mentioned on today's show was centered around a survey that found almost half of Americans want to relocate, but the revelation that almost no one surveyed said they would want to move to Detroit caused D&D to take a few pro-Detroit calls (H1). Now that Kwame is out of the picture, maybe the rest of the country will look at us like the rest of the world is looking at post-Bush America? Then again, more details came out today regarding the Thug Mayor's (and his dad's) involvement in SludgeGate (H1).

On a lighter note, comedian Dan Grueter joined D&D in the studio today, the third comic from Mark Ridley's Comic Castle to appear on the show. Other bits included an early call to Jim O'Brien to get an update on his pink eye (H1), a reading of a Bruce Springsteen parody Blackberry daily itinerary (H3), and a suprise appearance by "Ozzy Osbourne," (H3). A few newspaper articles were given D&D treatment as well, one regarding a Chicago guy who killed his brother over $2 of drug money (H3) -- "I'd buy that for two dollars" -- one about a dude who got punished by American Express for shopping at Wal-Mart (H2), and another giving a rundown of the best and worst Superbowl Halftime Shows (H3). Calls were taken on several subjects today, including the aforementioned pro-Detroit segment, arguments over what exactly qualifies as a Man Law (H3), and R-rated movie experiences as kids (H2) -- also movies you'd be embarrassed to see with your parents (H2). The final hour of the show was another Friday game, Loser. "What a loser!"
