Best thing, in my opinion, about the Faces Not Numbers campaign? Deminski and Doyle have perhaps the only show that could bring together a bipartisan collection of politicians and decision makers from Michigan and DC -- and without once mentioning anybody's political affiliation. Good for them. Hopefully it has some kind of effect on those who will make these decisions. And we're not just talking about Congress and the White House. GM is closing over 1,000 American dealerships, closing factories left and right, then turning around and importing over 50,000 cars from China per year within five years. Doesn't quite seem like the right way to do it, eh? Here are some other topics discussed on today's show, courtesy of WCSX.com:
1. FACES NOT NUMBERS - PICS FROM D.C. PRESS CONFERENCE (pics) - Excellent pics from the F.N.N. press conference. Audio clips were played on the show right at the beginning of the 7am hour. Hopefully there will be video to follow?
2. NICOLE’S STUPID DOG (pics / podcasts) - Deminski finds out that while D&D were in DC, Nicole Salem thought it would be perfectly acceptable to bring her Chihuahua, Lacy to work with her. Nicole doesn't really care if you don't like dogs, or happen to have allergies. That's like, totally not her problem! For anyone who cares (probably no one), below are some pictures of "Lacy."
3. CHRIS CHELIOS (podcast) - On the heels of winning game 7 of the 2nd round in the playoffs- Chris Chelios called in for the weekly Red Wings update! Now we move on to the Western Conference finals! LET’S GO RED WINGS!!!
4. WHAT NOW? (podcast) - Our "Faces Not Numbers" banner was a hit in Washington DC. It did EXACTLY what we wanted. It showed human faces, REAL Metro Detroiters and their families. It said "The Big 3 and auto industry are about people with lives and families. Not numbers." D&D want to know, what can we do with this amazing 100 foot banner now?
5. AVOIDING THE GAME (podcast) - On the way back from DC, Doyle deliberatly tried to avoid the Red Wings game because he wanted to watch it on Tivo when he got home. The problem? It was phyisically impossible to avoid. Even on an airplane.
6. JEFF WANTS TO GO TO SPACE (link) - This is the website for the Space Tourism company Jeff became enamored with after sitting next to the company president while flying back from DC yesterday.
