D&D - June 22, 2009

July 4 really does creep up on us, doesn't it? Especially with the city of Detroit jumping the gun with their early fireworks every year. Looking forward to the three day weekend coming up. Not sure if D&D will have a show on the 3rd. There was yet another another rock interview (two, if you count Weird Al) this morning -- the interview-followed-by-song seems to be a new staple of the "new" D&D Show. An old segment was brought back as well -- the Jon & Kate Plus Hate fiasco inspired another discussion on guilty TV pleasures. There was also a short "Oh, Monica!" update featuring a call to her voicemail, a piece on "guy movies," as well as a porno vs. tennis "Name That Grunt" competition between Doyle & Rudy. President Obama's recent standup routine was covered as well. Other topics were as follows, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. "YEAR ONE" - D&D FREE MOVIE! (info) - We'd like to take YOU and your family to see "Year One" at the all new Emagine Woodhaven Theatre - listen to D&D all week for tickets to the Thursday night performance of "Year One" with Jack Black!
2. JASON JONES (podcast) - Jason Jones of the Daily Show on Comedy Central, called in to talk to D&D - and he assures us that - Yes, he really DID spend a week in Iran.
3. PAUL RODGERS (podcast) - D&D talked to Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers. You can catch Paul and Bad Company when they come to Detroit on tour July 1st.
4. HECKLING AT GOLF (podcast) - It seems that Tiger Woods had to deal with some intoxicated, noisy hecklers at the US Open. So why is it that golf is the only sport where you have to be quiet? Why are we allowed to heckle at other sporting events, but not golf?
5. RUDY'S CLOSE CALL (podcast) - Rudy is convinced that he was nearly killed over the weekend - and that he WASN'T killed - is sheer luck. We're glad Rudy was spared - what would the show be without him?
6. WEIRD AL (podcast) - Song-Parody-Super-Genius, Weird Al Yankovic called in to talk with D&D. And if you haven't heard his latest - "Craigslist," you MUST listen.
