D&D - June 9, 2009

I think the verdict is unanimous now -- with Beaver gone, Rudy is definitely the show's bitch now. Not saying that's a bad thing, but Beaver's cantankerousness is certainly missed. I would have loved to have seen his reaction when asked if he'd carry an octopus around town. Probably something like, "I ain't touching that f-----g thing. Get away from me. I'll kill you." :)

Funny show today. The 6:05am interview seems to be a new thing for the guys -- today it was Mark Malkoff, the comedian who is living on airplanes for a month to get past his fear of flying. There was also a discussion of "sexy but ugly" celebrities and a debate about Michigan support for gay rights for penguins (named Sydney and Evgeni) that brought out the fucking nutjobs. You know you're hardcore when you're to the right of Dick Cheney on an issue. Here are a few more topics from the show, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. RUDY & STANLEY THE OCTOPUS (pics) - Rudy took the D&D pet octopus Stanley around town to get people to touch him for good luck! This included a stop at a Walgreen's, FOX 2, National Coney Island, and various street corners! Go Red Wings!
2. MIKE "DOC" EMERICK (podcast) - Doc Emerick of NBC called in to talk about Game 6, tonight. Then, D&D check in with Rudy and Stanley - the honorary good luck Red Wings octopus! Go Wings!
3. DRIVE-IN THEATERS (podcast) - While probably not the most technologically advanced, and probably not the best sound or picture quality - you got to watch a movie from the privacy of your own car with that special someone. Just for that, weren't drive-ins awesome?
4. THE END OF JOE VISION? (podcast) - If the Red Wings were to win the Stanley Cup in Pittsburgh, being at the Joe Louis Arena watching the game on Joe Vision seems like the next best thing to actually having them win the cup at home, right? Well...not anymore. It seems that NBC is doing away with Joe Vision.
5. RUDY AND STANLEY ON FOX 2 (podcast) - Rudy and Stanley the Octopus went around Metro Detroit this morning to get fans pumped up for the Red Wings Game 6 tonight! Rudy and Stanley even made it on TV with Fox 2!
