D&D - Aug 24, 2009

Made a few more changes to this morning's show audio during "post-production". We're still using the listener-made "remixed" intro mentioned last week and we're still pulling the majority of the music out, but we also added back in the Forrest Gump / Goodfellas sign-off that got dropped today for some unknown reason. We're also cutting the commercials down a bit -- the same PSAs over and over and getting annoying and they aren't really true D&D sponsors that you can go out and patronize (see the long list at left for better examples). Feel free to leave comments with other suggestions!

The show today was pretty interesting; topics covered included Deminski and his technophobia over Facebook and Twitter, a couple call-in segments about concert etiquette and sleepwalking, a bit more coverage of the health care debate (now with local flavor), two stories about lighting things -- a 14-year-old girl and Rudy's gas can -- on fire, and a couple short quips about a bathroom prank gone wrong and some disgusting survey results. Dan Marshall from Country Club Limousines, today's Workforce Business of the Day winner, and Michael Tunison, author of "The Football Fan's Manifesto" were interviewed as well; Michael provided an exception to the rule that interviews always make it onto the podcast page. Segments that were interesting enough to be listed online were, as decided by the staffers of WCSX.com:

1. CAPTION CONTEST (pic) - If you can come up with the most creative caption for this picture we will send ya a D&D coffee mug! Included in this photo Jim O'Brien, Rudy, and Jason Carr...
2. WHO GETS THE SEX TAPES? (podcast) - Believe it or not - this is becoming common. Couples getting divorced are actually going to court to decide who gets to keep the "Bedroom Videos."
3. CRICKET DARE (podcast) - Rudy was offered $20.00 to eat a cricket on the radio...AND HE FAILED! Nicole steps in and does it for NOTHIN'...shame on Rudy...shame! D&D offered Rudy $20 to eat a Bacon and Cheese seasoned cricket. Rudy chickened out. Nicole Salem on the other hand - ate a handful of them for FREE! Don't forget to see the picture of Nicole wearing her "Bubba" teeth while eating a cricket. Rudy - FAIL.
4. ARE WE IN IT FOR THE CRASHES? (podcast) - Things like the Selfridge Air Show, and Nascar races - aren't we all just in it because we want to see a crash? Does a small part of us hope to see a disaster?
5. PROPOSAL STORIES (podcast) - Another guy just made the news for a crazy, attention-whoring marriage proposal. Doesn't that make the rest of us guys look bad?
6. BJ NOVAK (podcast) - You know him as Ryan, from The Office, and he's also in this weekend's number 1 movie - Inglorious Bastards. BJ Novak called in to chat with D&D.
