D&D - Aug 14, 2009

Casual "déjà vu" Friday show today. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, D&D replayed a 3-way interview from a couple months ago they did with three guys who played at the festival. They also had saxophonist Alto Reed in the studio for a second time (no speeding tickets or in-studio sax playing this time). And inspired by a Minnesota story, Doyle again flashed back to his days in Catholic school and the crazy nuns he once knew. Play the Numbers was revisited as well (I actually got this one!) and today's Workforce Business of the Day interview was with DJ Loco Joe from DJDiscJockey.com. A few of the smaller stories mentioned this morning included Stewie Griffin's coming-out, a new Wolfenstein game, and a couple Michael Vick stories (60 Minutes interview and PETA protest). Other topics covered were, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. EDDIE VAN HALEN AND LES PAUL (video) - The great Eddie Van Halen plays a tribute to Les Paul! Check out this awesome video!
2. BARBARA CORCORAN "SHARK TANK" (podcast) - One of the "sharks" from ABC's "Shark Tank" Barbara Corcoran gave us a call this morning...This show involves inventors attempting to pitch their ideas to would be investors...So Doyle seized the opportunity to pitch "The Gamer Trough." [They started the interview late and she trashed the GT -- EPIC DOUBLE FAIL!]
3. PETER FRAMPTON ON LES PAUL (podcast) - Guitar Great Peter Frampton called in this morning to speak on the passing of Les Paul...Les Paul was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible." He is credited with inventing or discovering many recording innovations including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. Les Paul 1915-2009.
4. DAN SHAUGNESSY (podcast) - Dan is a writer and fellow media member...But he is a Red Sox homer...He wrote a revision about the Youk-Porcello take-down...Claiming Youk took down Porcello "like a baby calf!" What game were you watching dude?
5. BOSTONISMS (podcast) - Since D&D were on in Boston this week they decided to see if some of these Bostonisms were true...Rudy was no help...Usually never is...But at least they got some calls from "Bean Town," to confirm!
