D&D - Aug 7, 2009

With apologies to Stephen Lynch, here's (the beginning of) my tribute to John Hughes:

John Hughes is dead and gone
But his movies still live on
And Lisa's still hot, but she's a robot
So I'd much rather ride with Sloan

As Doyle mentioned, not only were his movies classics, but they were very quotable as well -- hence the multiple drops throughout the show. Controversies were also scattered throughout this morning; Nicole laughed at child abuse (see #1 below), Deminski angered some militant bikers bicyclists, and Rudy is going to name his new band after an area known for their sex offender population. Other topics mentioned were this weekend's Dearborn Homecoming party (featuring a drinking contest between Rudy and Nicole), the recent hacker attack against Twitter and Facebook, a re-enactment of the too-fat-to-take-roadside-sobriety-tests legal defense from yesterday, and a quick story about a British lampoon who had his long duck dong lit on fire like sixteen candles after menacing some unsuspecting patrons of a Greek bar. D&D also spoke to Jim Selke, owner of Classic Lanes, today's Workforce Business of the Day winner. Podcast-worthy topics were, courtesy of WCSX.com:

1. KID DRAGGED ON A LEASH (link / CNN video) - A mom is arrested after dragging her son through a store on a leash. Did she go too far? Checkout the video! [And listen at the beginning of the 7am hour as Nicole finds humor in child abuse.]
2. BRENDA COLYER (podcast) - D&D got in tough with Brenda Colyer, whose son Henry was viciously attacked and beaten while delivering pizza. Kid Rock made an "anonymous" donation to Henry Colyer - but the word of his good deed eventually leaked out.
3. STANLEY CUP CRASHER (podcast) - D&D talked to a guy named Ryan, who somehow snuck into the Penguins locker room as they were celebrating their Stanley Cup win - and get this - Ryan got to celebrate with them and no one noticed he didn’t belong!
4. PLAY THE NUMBERS (podcast) - D&D played a particularly difficult round of Play The Numbers today. One lucky listener just might have that winning Michigan Lottery ticket!
